Stranger Than Fiction is a new writers’ group based in Edinburgh for non-fiction authors. We plan to meet monthly in central Edinburgh.
We are looking for members who are serious about their work (aiming for publication; not necessarily previously published) and serious about improving it. We encourage constructive criticism – the group is friendly and informal but to be useful in today’s difficult publishing world, we want everyone to receive honest feedback. Writers of any genre of non-fiction are welcome.
I am keen to join the Stranger than Fiction group. I am currently writing a piece of historical non-fiction (with a view to publication) and would very much value the support of a group.
I am away on the 22nd September but hope to be available for the next date, and look forward to hearing when it is.
Many thanks,
Rowena
Hi Rowena,
We’ll post the date of the next meeting here as soon as we settle on one. Hope you’ll be able to make it then.
What are you working on? I write history too, as do some others in the group, so it’ll be good to meet another person in that field.

Are you prepared to accept another potential new member? I’ve written quite a lot of hackademic material and now want to explore what Creative Non-Fiction might mean.
Hi John,
Yes, we’re still open to new members. Will you be able to make it next week (22nd)?
Hope to see you then.

Is there a STF meeting scheduled for May 2011? If so, I would like to attend. Thanks. Owen.
Hi Owen.
Oops- looks like we forgot to update the website!
The STF meeting for May is tonight at the Jolly Judge at 7pm. Hope you can make it at short notice!
HI there – this is not spam, honest. Just thought you may be interested.
Once Upon A Universe
Have you ever wondered if there was more to the story than just a bang? Gather around to hear the surreal and colourful tale that is our universe, as told by astrophysicists and creative writers who have worked together to relate with words what is normally only told in equations. Expect giants, firebirds, magic expanding cakes, and of course, the unexpected….
